For the second year running I gathered my resources and armed with friends to help headed off for the annual show Salute at the Excel centre. I had some savings burning a hole in my pocket and orders from guys at my local club unable to make the trip. This year it was bigger than the year before with even more vendors lots of great stuff to check out participation games and a real treat for the eyes, inspiration galore.
This year I managed to attend the backstage meet up for the website Beastofwar.com catching up with Warren, Lloyd, Ben and Justin, playing a few games and having a laugh. The ladies from America were also across Dawn and Gianna and they were lovely, very chatty and it was nice to put a face to those I'd been exchanging emails with. For anyone new to wargaming I would recommend the site as a valuable resource for any newcomer the content is amazing and very varied covering all aspects of the hobby and for less than £4.00 it's a bargain.

A few shots taken on the day showing tables that couldn't help but inspire your own creations.
My first purchase of the day was at the Wayland stand where I took advantage of their three for two offer and with my Wild West Exodus also on a deal I ended up spending enough to claim a free £40.00 box set so at the end of the day I was well pleased.
All in all it was a very busy week wargaming wise. The Wild West Exodus Kickstarter delivered two factions the Confederate Rebellion and the Dark Nation prior to my Salute trip and post trip a small order from Warlord delivered American Jeeps and weapon teams. It took me over a week just to get everything assembled based and primed and now my work starts in earnest although my bloody health is once again a pain in the Arse.
On top of the usual shit I have been debilitated far more than usual pain like I have never felt has left me immobile confined to a chair cocooned in memory foam every move a torture. I am used to pain and discomfort it's part of everyday life but this was a whole new level and all I could do was ride it out as best I could. Due to the junior doctors strike my specialist appointment was rescheduled for June, but they did do a series of MRI's of my spine and hips so any day soon I may have a more informed idea of what's going on.
