At last the  work can begin to get my armies and templates ready for gaming. As usual i got distracted and wanted to have a go at making some 3d Steamroller templates which will not look out of place on any table.

i started with 20mm thick MDF rounds which i cut from waste material i had salvaged from going in the bin. Living on my own with a Jack Russell i have the liberty of not needing anyone's permission to save lots of junk and wood offcuts just in case they can come in handy later on, those of you with a wife or girlfriend might not be so liberated lol.

The next step was to add detail with a dremmell type hand drill which took me a while due to poor dexterity. i learnt my lesson well though and have bought a flexible drive for said drill which has the dimensions of a pen and is much easier to handle which for under a tenner off ebay was a bargain.

As you can see the water effects are still curing being white in places, however, the flock and differing sizes of static grass and tufts are starting to make it come alive. i have still got to flock and detail the sides to tie the model in  but i have already decided that as well as steamroller templates these can also be used for any other fantasy game and i have an idea for a minions swamp type setup where these templates and others are all interchangeable
